Soap Chemistry
For science this term we are doing chemistry. For _____ first experiment Cameron and I decided to make soap. We chose it because it was one of the hardest ones and we wanted a challenge.
What is the chemistry?
Well, soap is made of fat and caustic soda. On their own they are useless at getting your hands ________. Fat, oil, and grease hate water and won’t join with it. Caustic Soda hates fat and won’t join with it. But if you join them ___________ you get a long skinny molecule that has two ends. One end loves water, and one end loves fat and grease. This means when you wash your hands, the soap molecules ________ the fat and water molecules link together and then they wash down the drain.
